Chandra Prakash Ghimire

Active since the late 1980s, he became one of the most commercially successful filmmakers of the 1990s and 2000s, shaping mainstream Nepali entertainment with family‑drama and social‑comedy hits. Sharma directed and produced popular films such as Dui Thopa Aansu, Allare, Dal Bhaat Tarkari, Mitini, and Jai Bhole, earning a reputation for clean storytelling, strong ensemble casting, and audience‑friendly humor. His work continues to influence new‑generation filmmakers, making him a respected pillar of the Nepali film industry.  

Alok Nembang (June 9, 1973 – November 6, 2014) was one of Nepal’s most influential film and music‑video directors, celebrated for shaping the visual language of modern Nepali pop culture. Beginning his career as a VJ and model, he went on to direct over 600 music videos, introducing cinematic style, fresh aesthetics, and youth‑driven storytelling. Nembang made his feature‑film debut with the hit romantic drama Sano Sansar (2008), followed by Kohi Mero (2010). Known for his creativity, discipline, and trend‑setting vision, he remains a defining figure in Nepal’s contemporary visual and musical landscape.

Samundra Bhatta is a Nepali filmmaker, director, and writer known for her bold storytelling and cultural depth. A graduate of Toronto Film School, she made her directorial debut with Aadha Page (2016), a romantic drama. Her breakthrough came with Gunyo Cholo: The Dress (2024), a powerful film exploring gender identity and social stigma, starring Najir Husen. The film was selected for the prestigious Photo Film Market in Seattle, USA, gaining international attention. Bhatta’s work blends traditional Nepali themes with contemporary narratives, reflecting her commitment to inclusive cinema. As a rising voice in South Asian film, she continues to challenge norms through visual storytelling.

Tulsi Ghimire is a celebrated figure in Nepali cinema, known for his multifaceted contributions as a director, screenwriter, editor, actor, and lyricist. Born on July 15, 1951, in Kalimpong, India, he initially worked in Bollywood before transitioning to Nepali films. His debut as a director came with the movie Bansuri in 1981. He is best known for directing iconic Nepali films such as Kusume Rumal (1985), Lahure (1989), Deuta (1991), Dakshina (1994), and Darpan Chhaya (2001). Many of these films became blockbusters and are celebrated for addressing social issues and portraying deep human emotions. His work has left an indelible mark on the Nepali film industry.
