Laxmi Shrestha

Akanchha Karki is a Nepali theatre artist, film actor, director, and casting director, widely recognized for her bold, socially engaged storytelling. She leads Katha Ghera, a Kathmandu‑based theatre collective known for contemporary, feminist, and mental‑health‑informed productions. Her breakout moment came in 2015 with the Nepali staging of The Vagina Monologues, which established her as a fearless voice challenging patriarchal norms. In cinema, she is known for her work in The Shameless (2024) as both actor (Doctor) and casting director, and for directing the short film Sanai, created under the British Council Gender Film Grant. Her artistic practice blends theatre, film, and social justice, making her one of Nepal’s most distinctive multidisciplinary creators.

Mohan Niraula is a prominent Nepali actor, director, and media personality known for his versatile presence across film, television, and theatre. Rising to fame through popular TV serials and stage productions, he later expanded into filmmaking, hosting, and cultural leadership. Niraula has directed several notable Nepali films and served in key roles within the Nepal Film Artists Association, contributing to policy, artist welfare, and industry development. His long career reflects a blend of performance, direction, and public engagement, making him a respected figure in Nepal’s entertainment landscape

Bishnu Bhakta Phuyal was an artist and theater actor. He had been active in Nepali cinema for a long time. Phuyal passed away on the 19th of Poush, 2073 B.S. (January 3, 2017), while performing on stage at the Rastriya Nachghar in Kathmandu. He collapsed while portraying King Janak in the play Maharshi Yagya Valkya, directed by Badri Adhikari. Despite immediate attention, he could not be revived. Phuyal was also seen in the popular comedy series Tito Satya, where he played the role of actress Deepashree Niraula’s father. In addition to television, he acted in numerous Nepali films. He had once expressed a wish to die while working in the theater—and ultimately, he departed while performing on stage. His catchphrase “Youre my love” with hip-hop style from Tito Satya made him widely recognized and beloved by audiences.

Krishna Murari Dhungel is a Nepali film artist known for his supporting roles in 1990s Nepali cinema, including his appearance in Bhisma Pratigya (1995). Active during the era of ensemble social‑action dramas, he contributed to films featuring leading actors such as Rajesh Hamal, Gauri Malla, Dhiren Shakya, and Neer Bikram Shah. Recognized for his steady presence in character roles, Dhungel remains part of the generation that shaped the classic period of Nepali commercial filmmaking.
