Jhuma Niraula

Hemant Sharma is a renowned Nepali singer, songwriter, and musician known for his contributions to modern, pop, and folk music. Born in Triveni, Nawalparasi, he pursued a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Tribhuvan University before making a name for himself in the music industry. His first album, Oh Priya, was released in 2000, but it was his song Maya Sarai Mahango from a 2002 album that brought him widespread recognition. Over the years, Sharma has recorded more than 100 songs and released over seven solo albums. He has also served as the president of the Performers Society of Nepal from 2015 to 2017. His music style blends folk, Nepali modern, and pop influences, making him a beloved figure in Nepalese music.  

Deepak Kharel is a legendary figure in the Nepali music scene, celebrated for his soulful voice and deep connection to the lyrical beauty of modern Nepali songs. With a career spanning several decades, Kharel has not only witnessed the evolution of Nepali music but has also played a pivotal role in shaping it. He first rose to prominence in the 1980s and quickly became known for his melodious voice, classical training, and his ability to bring out raw emotion in every performance. His songs often explore themes of love, longing, heartbreak, and the beauty of life, striking a chord with audiences of all ages. Some of his most beloved and timeless tracks include “Timro Tyo Hasilo,” “Badal Banai Deu,” “Poornima Ko Raat,” “Ma Timro Saath Dinchhu,” and “Hera Na Hera Kancha.” These songs remain staples on Nepali radio and playlists, evoking nostalgia and admiration from generations of music lovers. Deepak Kharel has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to Nepali music. He has worked closely with acclaimed lyricists and composers such as Ramesh, Bhairav Aryal, and Shanti Thatal, creating musical masterpieces that are still celebrated today. Beyond singing, Kharel has also contributed as a music mentor and has inspired many young artists to pursue music with sincerity and discipline. His influence is seen not only in his recordings but also in the way his voice and style have shaped the identity of modern Nepali playback singing. He remains active in the music community, performing on prestigious stages and continuing to be a revered name in the industry. His legacy is one of elegance, grace, and a lifelong dedication to the art of music.

  Lasimit Rai, born in Rangapani, Jalpaiguri, India, was a celebrated Nepali singer active for more than three decades. She earned her Master’s degree in Nepali Literature from Tribhuvan University and taught at United Academy in Jawalakhel. Her admired film songs include Mayaluko Muharai Hansilo from Gauley, Sangsangai Bachna Paun from Lekhanth, Mari Gaye Muri Mato from Paradeshi Kanchha, and Aaj Maile Ram Namai Japey from Majhi Dai. Her modern hits include Sunkoshiko Sunko Pani, Samjhanale, and Ghamle Pani Polchha. She lent her voice to over fifty songs. Rai passed away in 2021 due to COVID‑19.    

Sushant Ghimire is a rising Nepali singer-songwriter known for his introspective lyrics and soulful melodies. Originally from Biratnagar, he discovered his passion for music early on—singing Raju Lama’s “Timi Lai Dekhera” at a school event sparked his journey. Despite initially pursuing engineering and working full-time at a construction company, his love for music led him to perform cover songs and original compositions at bars in Kathmandu, often juggling gigs with his day job. His notable songs include: - “Mann Chari” – a poetic reflection on inner peace and freedom - “Bujhau Malai” – a heartfelt lyrical piece - “Feri Feri” – a tribute to love and friendship - “Eklo Mann” – written from a female perspective for the drama Kohi Kina Barbaad Hos Ghimire’s music blends emotional storytelling with a modern acoustic sound, resonating with listeners who appreciate authenticity and vulnerability.
