Birendra Hamal

Reshraj Acharya was a respected Nepali film director known for his emotional storytelling and strong command of family and social‑themed cinema. He began his directorial journey with the film Tilhari and went on to direct notable works such as Tuhuro, Mato Bolchha, Bandhan, Aama, Man Muttu Ra Maya, Mayako Saino, Bhagyale Jurayo, Nagad Narayan, and Dharmasankat. His final directorial project was Preetiko Phool. Acharya also directed television serials including Dushman and Aama, and served as assistant director on films like Sapana, Sampatti, and Mayalu. He passed away on Falgun 5, 2078 B.S., at the age of 64.

Prem Bahadur Basnet is a Nepali film director known for his contribution to the early development of Nepali cinema and for directing the culturally important film Kumari.After completing his B.Ed., Basnet received scholarships to study abroad, including one from a university in Hawaii, USA, and another to study scriptwriting at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, India. While many students at the time were going to the United States for higher education, Basnet chose to pursue film studies in Pune because of his strong interest in cinema.He studied there for two years, going to Pune in 1962 and returning to Nepal in 1964. After returning, he worked at Nepal’s Information Department, where he became involved in cultural and media-related activities.Having studied filmmaking, Basnet was more interested in creating original and artistic films rather than purely commercial cinema. During this period, when Nepal was invited to represent the country in international film festivals, he decided to make a film based on the living goddess Kumari tradition of the Newar community in Kathmandu.This idea eventually led to the creation of Kumari, which became an important cultural film portraying Nepal’s traditions and social life. Through his work, Prem Bahadur Basnet helped introduce culturally rooted and artistic storytelling to Nepali cinema.

Ramesh Adhikari is a talented Nepali actor known for his work in both television and film. He made his debut in the Nepali film industry in 2012 with the movie Saayad, where he portrayed the character Sugandhaman. He is also recognized for his roles in films like Gajalu (2016), where he played a government officer, and Gopi (2019).

Amar Rasaili is a Nepali film director, production designer, and writer known for his multidisciplinary contribution to contemporary Nepali cinema, working across story, screenplay, and visual design to shape emotionally grounded and visually coherent films. Active in direction and art‑department leadership, he is recognized for blending narrative clarity with strong production aesthetics, often developing his own story concepts and screenplays while overseeing the film’s visual world. His work reflects a collaborative, detail‑driven approach that connects performance, design, and storytelling, positioning him among the new‑generation creators contributing to the evolving craft of Nepali filmmaking.
