Dakshina (1994) follows the life of Hari Sir, a respected professor at Tribhuvan University whose teachings inspire his students. His principles clash with Prabhakar, an ambitious political figure who manipulates student politics for personal gain. Seeing Hari Sir as an obstacle, Prabhakar conspires against him, resulting in Hari Sir’s demotion to a rural primary school.Hari Sir moves to the village with his wife Bhawana (Guru Aama) and young son Akash, where he discovers the local school abandoned and mismanaged. Determined, he reopens the school and restores education in the community. As Akash grows older and attends college, he becomes entangled in illegal activities through Prabhakar’s network, unaware of the political trap around him. His arrest devastates Guru Aama, leading to a fatal heart attack.Hari Sir’s world collapses as he learns of Akash’s involvement with Prabhakar. The story intensifies with emotional confrontations, moral dilemmas, and the exposure of political corruption. With the help of DSP Pratap, a former student who once opposed him, the truth about Prabhakar’s crimes finally surfaces. The film concludes with Hari Sir and Akash seeking redemption and a new beginning after immense loss.
