Upendra Subba (born 26 September 1971, Angsarang, Panchthar) is a leading Nepali poet, lyricist, writer, and filmmaker, widely respected for his role in shaping modern Nepali literature and cinema. A co‑founder of the influential literary movement Srijanshil Arajakta (Creative Anarchy) with Rajan Mukarung and Hangyug Agyat, Subba’s work blends Limbu cultural identity with contemporary social themes.His acclaimed literary contributions include poetry collections such as Dada Mathi Ko Gham Jun Ra Gadtirka Raake Bhut Haru (2002), Hongrayo Bhog Ra Pangra (2004), Kholako Gita Ra Purana Kavitaharu (2013), and the celebrated short‑story collection Lato Pahad (2014), which later inspired the film Keba Kokma.In cinema, Subba is known for his long collaboration with director Ram Babu Gurung, contributing to hit films including Kabaddi, Kabaddi Kabaddi, and Kabaddi Kabaddi Kabaddi. He made his directorial debut with Jaari (2023), earning multiple national awards for screenplay, story, and direction.
