Jitendra Bardewa (Nepali: जितेन्द्र बर्देवा; 8 March 1942 – 2 July 1995) was one of the legendary figures of Nepali music and is widely regarded as one of the "Trimurti" (Trinity) of modern Nepali music. A gifted singer, songwriter, composer, music arranger, sitar player, and presenter, he made remarkable contributions to the development of Nepali modern music and remains one of its most versatile and influential musicians.Born in Darjeeling, India, Bardewa developed a deep interest in music from an early age. He became one of the closest and most accomplished disciples of the legendary Amber Gurung, who played a pivotal role in shaping his musical career. In 1956, Bardewa succeeded his mentor as the Head of the Music Department of the Lok Manoranjan Branch in Darjeeling, continuing the institution's rich musical legacy.Early in his career, Bardewa joined the renowned musical ensemble Sangam Club, alongside Peter J. Karthak, Sharan Pradhan, Ranjit Gazmer, and Aruna Lama. During his time with the group, he emerged as a talented singer and lyricist. One of Sangam Club's most memorable songs, "Hera Na Hera Kancha," a duet by Aruna Lama and Jitendra Bardewa, won a major music competition and remains one of the most cherished classics in Nepali music.Seeking greater artistic freedom, Bardewa later established his own musical group, Shravan, where his extraordinary talent flourished. As a sitar player, lyricist, composer, singer, music arranger, and presenter, he excelled in all six disciplines, earning widespread admiration for his creativity and musical excellence.Jitendra Bardewa wrote, composed, arranged, and performed many timeless Nepali songs that continue to resonate with listeners today. His best-known classics include "Ek Raat Thiyo Bharkharkai Thiyo," "Kopilamai," "Dhalkija Hai Joban Din Dhalke Jastai," and "Ban Dadheko Dekhinchha Hai," along with numerous other memorable compositions. His songs are celebrated for their poetic lyrics, rich melodies, and sophisticated musical arrangements.Throughout his career, Bardewa helped elevate the artistic standard of Nepali modern music by blending classical influences with contemporary musical expression. Prabhu Raj Dhakal is a renowned Nepali classical vocalist, composer, and music educator, currently serving as a vocal teacher at the Music Department of Kathmandu University and Nepal Music School. Born on 29th Shrawan 2025 B.S., he is the son of the legendary Sangeet Pravin Pragya Pandit Nara Raj Dhakal and Jyoti Dhakal. Growing up in Dhobichaur, Chhetrapati, he was surrounded by music from an early age, with many prominent radio singers frequenting his home to learn from his father. Inspired by this rich musical environment, Dhakal developed a deep-rooted passion for classical music. Though initially advised by his father not to pursue music professionally, his dedication and progress eventually earned his father’s support. He began teaching classical vocals over two decades ago, first as a substitute for his father and then full-time as student numbers grew. Over the years, he has contributed significantly to the classical music scene in Nepal. His notable albums include ‘Moment’, a collaboration with fellow musicians, and ‘Sohani’, featuring his compositions performed by his students. He is also a founding member of the classical ensemble Dafa, alongside Suresh Bajracharya and Rabin Shrestha. The group not only performs but also organizes annual events to honor veteran artists who have contributed to Nepali music.

Gyanu Rana is a celebrated Nepali singer known for her contributions to modern and folk music. Born on October 3, 1949, in Batulechaur, Pokhara, Nepal, she grew up in a musically rich environment. Her father, Dharmaraj Thapa, was a renowned poet and folk singer, and her mother, Savitri Thapa, was a cultural promoter. Gyanu Rana's upbringing deeply influenced her musical journey. She has recorded over 2,000 songs in various languages, including Nepali, Hindi, Urdu, Bhojpuri, Maithili, and Newari. Her repertoire spans modern, classical, folk songs, bhajans, and ghazals. Some of her most iconic songs include "Siri Ma Siri Ni Kanchha" and "Manchhe Ko Maya Yaha," which she performed with the legendary Narayan Gopal. Gyanu Rana has also been a judge in national music competitions and has represented Nepal in international cultural festivals. Her career includes contributions to more than ten Nepali films as a playback singer. She retired as an Assistant Director of Music from the Royal Nepal Academy in 2006.
