Aruna Lama, born on 9 September 1945 in Ghoom Pahar, Darjeeling, was an Indian‑born Nepali‑language singer widely honored as the “Nightingale of the Hills.” Her musical journey began at age seven under the encouragement of her uncle C.B. Lama, and she went on to become one of the most influential voices in Nepali modern music. Known for her expressive, melancholic tone and lyrical depth, she recorded hundreds of songs, including major film numbers that shaped the emotional landscape of Nepali cinema. Her signature hits include “Pohor Saal Khusi,” “Eh Kancha Malai Sunko Tara,” and many enduring modern classics. She received the Prabala Gorkha Dakshina Bahu in 1996 for her contribution to Nepali music. Lama passed away on 4 February 1998 in Kathmandu, leaving behind a timeless legacy cherished across the Nepali‑speaking world.

Sudip Giri (born April 25, 1982, Chitwan) is a Nepali pop singer, songwriter, and composer known for his emotional modern‑pop style and widely loved hits such as Timi Aaja Bholi, Tutnu Thiyo Tutyo Mutu, Sannani Ko, Na Bijaune Phool, and Ma Ta Timrai Ho Ni. He began his musical journey in the early 2000s, first performing with the Chitwan‑based band Octave‑C before moving to Kathmandu for formal vocal and harmonium training.His debut album CANVASS (2000) became one of the successful pop albums of its time, followed by FRENZ (2005) and KATHA (2009). Many of his songs from these albums—especially Timi Aaja Bholi, Tutnu Thiyo Tutyo Mutu, Katha, and Sannani Ko—remain among the most streamed Nepali pop tracks on digital platforms.Sudip’s music blends heartfelt lyrics, soft‑rock influences, and melodic phrasing, making him a recognizable voice in Nepal’s 2000s–2010s pop era. His EP Canvass (2019 re‑release) and later singles such as Thikai Vo and Pritiko Mala Gaser continue to keep his catalog active across YouTube Music, Apple Music, and Deezer.He has received multiple honors including the Image Award (Best New Artist, 2004), Kalika Awards (Best Vocal 2004, Best Composer 2006), Dhuk Dhuki Award (2004), and nominations at Hits FM Music Awards. Kamala Shrestha is a celebrated Nepali singer known for her expressive voice and versatility across genres. She was born on Kartik 9, 2005 BS (approximately October 25, 1948 AD) in Kathmandu to Ram Bahadur Shrestha and Indra Maya Shrestha. Kamala began singing as a child and entered the professional music scene around 2024 BS (1967 AD) when she won first prize at a Radio Nepal anniversary competition for her song Naugediko Mala Mero. This marked the beginning of her active musical career, which flourished through the late 1960s, 1970s, and beyond. She was mentored by legendary composer Natikaji, who recognized her talent when she was just 13. Through Radio Nepal, she collaborated with iconic artists like Shiva Shankar and contributed to a wide range of musical styles—bhajans, Newari songs, Bhojpuri numbers, patriotic anthems, folk tunes, and adhunik (modern) songs. Over her career, she recorded more than 400 songs, many of which remain sadabahar (evergreen) classics. Kamala Shrestha also performed internationally, representing Nepal in India, China, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Japan, and other countries. Her dedication to music continued even after marriage and motherhood, defying social expectations of the time.
