Ustad Sahila, born (Asta Man Shrestha) in Asaar 1951, was a pioneering figure in Nepali folk‑based musical innovation. Known for introducing a fresh dimension to Nepali lok‑laya, he blended traditional rhythms with expressive vocal phrasing that made his songs deeply memorable. He trained in Kolkata under respected maestros Pandit Laxmikanta, Ustad Surya Mishra, and Ustad Shiva, gaining a strong classical foundation that shaped his unique style. In 1990 B.S., he recorded his songs in Kolkata, producing seven gramophone discs, a rare achievement for a Nepali artist of his era. His popular songs include “Kalo Theki Naran Kali Kathako”, which remains a beloved folk classic. Ustad Sahila passed away on Magh 15, 2013, leaving behind an important musical legacy.  

Buddhi Bahadur Pariyar was a gifted Nepali folk composer whose song “Resham Firiri” became a cultural anthem. Born in Pokhara, Pariyar grew up immersed in the rhythms of village life. In 1972, he composed “Resham Firiri Resham Firiri”, inspired by the hills and daily joys of Nepali people. The song was recorded in 1974 by Sunder Shrestha and Dwarika Lal Joshi, and quickly gained national fame. Its catchy tune and relatable lyrics made it a favorite among street performers, travelers, and diaspora communities. Despite its popularity, Pariyar remained largely uncredited, highlighting the struggles of folk creators in Nepal’s music industry. His work reflects the soul of Nepali folk traditions—simple, melodic, and deeply rooted in lived experience. “Resham Firiri” continues to echo across generations, symbolizing the enduring charm of Nepal’s musical heritage.

Tilak Bam Malla, also known by his stage name Parivesh, is a Nepali folk-pop singer. He gained popularity in the late 90s with his second Lok Pop album, Parivesh Vol.2, which featured hit songs like Mutu Chune, Bhote Talcha, Haat Ma Rumal, and Chaite Dashain. He is considered a pioneer of the Lok Pop genre in Nepal. Malla has released numerous successful songs and albums, and his music continues to resonate with Nepali audiences. He also owns Parivesh Recording Studio, where he supports talented musicians who want to revolutionize the Nepali music industry. Beyond music, he has been involved in humanitarian efforts, especially during the devastating Nepal earthquake in 2015. Prem Pariyar (born in Dhading District, Nepal) is a Nepali playback singer who rose to national fame as a child artist through the blockbuster film franchise Nai Nabhannu La. His emotionally resonant child voice made him one of the most recognizable young singers in Nepali cinema, earning him the nickname “Kid with a great voice.”He began singing at a very young age while living in a hostel, where his talent was first noticed. His breakthrough came when he was selected to sing for Nai Nabhannu La 2 (2014), followed by multiple successful recordings in later sequels.Prem Pariyar’s songs such as “Yi Aankhama Timi Chheu,” “Marne Kasailai,” “Feri Feri Nai Nabhannu La,” “Maina Raja Maina Rani,” and “Kasham Hamile Khayekai Thiyeu (Male Version)” became major hits, widely played across Nepal and the diaspora. All of his singles from the franchise achieved strong public reception.Despite early success, he later faced challenges when his child voice began to change during the recording of Nai Nabhannu La 3, affecting his vocal continuity.In recognition of his contribution as a young playback singer, he received the Online Filmykhabar Award 2071 (Best Singer) for Nai Nabhannu La 2.
