Ram Thapa (1958–2008) was a pioneering Nepali folk singer, music director, and Radio Nepal presenter known for his humorous and socially conscious songs. Born in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu, he began his musical career in 1974 and became a 7th Grade Music Director at Radio Nepal. He sang over 150 folk songs and directed music for more than 200, with hits like Thok Na Madal Thok, Timi Yesai Lajayau, and Ritu Haruma Timi, which was ranked 7th by BBC in 2003. Neer Bikram Shah, also known as Nir Shah, is a Nepalese movie actor, a poet, lyricist, movie director,media personality and businessman. He is related to the Royal family of Nepal. Neer Shah is the producer or co-producer of many Nepali movies. He has also directed several Nepali movies produced by himself, including Basudev, Pachchis Basanta, Basanti, and a Nepal Bhasa movie Rajamati. He is also a co-producer of the Oscar nominated film Himalaya – l’enfance d’un chef, which was co-produced and directed by the French movie maker Eric Valli. The film, also released as Caravan (in Canada) and Himalaya (in Denmark and France), was the first film from Nepal to win an Oscar nomination.

Balkrishna Sama (1902 – 20 June 1981) was Nepal’s most influential modern playwright, poet, and literary reformer, widely honored as the Shakespeare of Nepal for his pioneering contribution to Nepali drama. Born in Gyaneshwor, Kathmandu, he began his literary career in the early 1920s, writing socially conscious plays that challenged tradition and expanded the artistic scope of Nepali theatre. His worksincluding Prem Pinda, Bhater, Tansen, and Amar Singh introduced psychological depth, historical imagination, and modern dramatic structure to Nepali literature. A former army officer turned full‑time writer, Sama received Nepal’s highest honors for his cultural impact, and his legacy continues to define the foundation of Nepali drama and stage literature.
