Milesh Tandukar is a highly respected tabla virtuoso, composer, and music educator from Kathmandu, Nepal. A graduate of Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, he trained under legendary gurus like Pandit Satya Narayan Chaudhary, Pandit Homnath Upadhyaya, and Pandit Prem Chandra Ojhaiya. He is the founder of the Pandit Satya Narayan Chaudhary Memorial Academy and has performed extensively across Nepal, India, France, and Japan. Jhuma Limbu is a talented Nepali singer, folk musician, and music researcher. She has made significant contributions to preserving and promoting Nepali folk music. Here’s more about her: Early Life and Education: Jhuma Limbu was born in Dhungesaghu VDC (now Maiwakhola rural municipality) in Taplejung district, Eastern Nepal. She grew up as the youngest child among six siblings. Jhuma started singing by participating in Dhan Nach, a traditional Limbu folk dance and music custom. After completing her SLC level education in 2001, she moved to Kathmandu, where she passed the voice test at Radio Nepal and decided to stay. She pursued her education at Lalit Kala Campus, a fine arts college . Music Career: Jhuma released her first album, “Eh Saila”, under the mentorship of classical musician Chandan Kumar Shrestha. She further honed her skills under the guidance of Amber Gurung, a renowned Nepali musician who composed the Nepali national anthem. Her second album, “Amber Sangeet”, was a tribute to her mentor. Most of the songs in this album were composed by Gurung himself. In 2014, she released an album titled “Khaasaam”, which features solo and ensemble performances based on Limbu culture. Jhuma Limbu actively participates in the Raithane Sangeet Abhiyan, a movement dedicated to conserving and promoting Nepali folk music. She has also researched and documented various singing methods used by indigenous communities and folk instruments throughout Nepal . Notable Work: Jhuma Limbu’s contributions extend beyond her albums. She has actively researched various Nepali folk music genres and instruments. Additionally, she received recognition from Yakhung Yuwa Manch, Lalitpur for her efforts in preserving folk music . Film Music: Jhuma, along with Ganga Thapa, composed the music for the 2022 Nepali film “Jaar”, based on a story by Indra Bahadur Rai. The film, directed by Phurba Tshering Lama, features actors Anoop Bikram Shahi, Geetanjali Thapa, and Saugat Malla . Jhuma Limbu’s dedication to preserving and celebrating Nepali folk music makes her a remarkable artist in the music scene. 🎵🇳🇵
